
KUTA- Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Wishnutama Kusubandio visited Bali on Friday (11/12/2020) to check health protocol implementation on the resort island. However, he denied that his visit was part of the preparations for opening the border for international tourists.
“I’m here to ensure that CHSE (Clean, Health, Safety & Environment-red) protocol has been implemented properly. This is very important for the revival of tourism. In the future, health is the main requirement for tourism awakening,” Wishnutama said during a visit to Bebek Timbungan Restaurant, Kuta, Friday (11/12/2020).
“This protocol already running to anticipate holiday seasons at the end of December. We predict that many tourists will come on vacation, so we must ensure that health protocols must be improved,” he continued.

Wishnutama said, the implementation of health protocols towards the end of the year holidays must be carefully prepared to maintain the trust of tourists. He admitted that he had coordinated with the Bali Governor, so that the implementation of the health protocol could running, and even more tightened at the end of the year.
Regarding the stages that must be passed before opening foreign tourism, Wishnutama said that the surface discourse must be carried out by conducting trials. One of that is by paying attention to the implementation of health protocols to domestic tourists.
“First, we have to implement the health protocol properly. We will also monitor the holiday, especially in the implementation of health protocols. Whether the implementation is good or not, the measure is whether there is no spike in COVID-19 cases,” he said.
“We also have to be careful in opening tourism, it will even add to the problem. This must be tested with the upcoming holidays first, focusing on domestic tourists,” he explained.
Regarding the certainty when international tourism will open, he said that he need to see the situation first. “We’ll learn first, it’s not that simple,” he stated. (Kanalbali / ACH)
