Bali Ocean Days Conference on Marine Conservation: Walk The Talk for Our Blue Planet

DENPASAR, kanalbali.id –  January 19 and 20, 2024, will mark the debut of Bali Ocean Days, an international marine conservation event that promotes the development of an inclusive and sustainable Blue Economy in Indonesia and beyond. Held at the InterContinental Bali Resort Jimbaran in partnership with the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs and the AIS Forum.

Bali Ocean Days is dedicated to raising awareness among all communities about the importance of achieving a series of critical objectives for the future of our blue planet: reduce marine pollution and ocean acidification, protect and restore coastal ecosystems, reverse the overfishing crisis, and increase the economic and social benefits from sustainable use of marine resources.

The two-day conference features a curated lineup of 30 leading Indonesian and international speakers with different backgrounds and disciplines including government officials, financial institutions, NGOs, sustainable economy stakeholders and academics, with the aim of sharing challenges, presenting policies and solutions, and discussing synergies and long-term projects in front of a public audience.

“We initiate this event to support the expansion of an Indonesian Blue Economy, defined by the World Bank as the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods, and jobs while preserving the health of ocean ecosystems.” Paul Tanjung Tan, Sky Blue Sea Foundation founder stated.

“As the largest archipelago in the world, Indonesia plays a crucial role in the future of the world’s oceans, and considering environmental challenges that Bali has to face, the island is an appropriate host for a new conference that puts marine conversation at its center” Yoke Darmawan, Sky Blue Sea Foundation Chair added.
