DENPASAR, kanalbali.id – Acting Governor of Bali, S.M. Mahendra Jaya, received an audience with Alibaba Cloud’s Director of Strategic Development and Governance, Pitt Wi Zhe, on Monday (2/12) at the Bali Governor’s Office.
The meeting discussed opportunities for cooperation in supporting digital transformation and technology development in Bali.
Pitt Wi Zhe explained Alibaba Group’s role as a global technology company engaged in e-commerce, artificial intelligence, and technology solutions.
“Alibaba Group has developed into a digital ecosystem that supports integrated infrastructure and marketing. We hope to support Bali through our technology,” he said.
According to Pitt, Alibaba Cloud’s services, which include computing, data storage, big data analysis, and security, are already widely used in Indonesia, including by the Ministry of Communication and Information.
To demonstrate this commitment, Alibaba Cloud will hold the Alibaba Cloud Partner Summit 2024 on December 3-4 in Sanur, Bali.
“Bali is chosen as the location for the event because its conducive conditions, many digital nomads from all over the world work and live here,” he added.
Acting Governor Mahendra Jaya appreciated this initiative and welcomed the opportunity for cooperation in the technology sector.
“Bali do not have natural resources, but it has superior human resources. We want Bali to be a home for information technology and a birthplace for creative digital talent,” he said.
He dreams of Bali becoming a hub for the world’s digital MSMEs. “Airbnb, which is now big, was inspired by accommodation in Bali. We want Balinese human resources to create innovations that can go global,” he said.
Mahendra Jaya is welcoming further communication with Alibaba Cloud. “For technical details, please coordinate with the Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Office,” he said.
The Alibaba Cloud Partner Summit 2024 event is expected to be an important momentum to strengthen Bali’s digital ecosystem and attract more technology investment to the Island of the God. (kanalbali/RLS)
